Spark Tech Electrical installs home and business EV chargers across the Perth metro, done safely and to standard. Licensed EC 17280 electricians for 7kW single-phase and 22kW three-phase wallboxes.

Charging your electric vehicle at home is cheaper, faster and far more convenient than relying on public chargers, but the wallbox needs to be wired properly to be safe. Spark Tech Electrical is a licensed Western Australian electrical contractor (EC 17280) based in Padbury, and we install home and business EV chargers right across the Perth metro. You get a qualified local electrician who assesses your switchboard and supply, installs the charger to standard, and shows you how it works before we leave.
We cover Joondalup, Hillarys, Duncraig, Scarborough, Stirling, Wanneroo and the wider metro. Whether you have just picked up a Tesla, BYD, Kia or Polestar, or you run a business adding chargers for staff and customers, we will match the right unit to your property and get it running safely.
Most Perth homes have a single-phase supply, which suits a 7kW wall charger (a 32A dedicated circuit). A 7kW charger adds roughly 40km of range per hour, so an overnight charge easily covers daily driving for the vast majority of drivers. It is the most popular home install and the best value for money.
A 22kW charger charges around three times faster but needs a three-phase supply. If your home already has three phase, or you are considering a 3 phase power upgrade, a 22kW unit is worth discussing. Many owners choose a 22kW-capable charger and run it at 7kW now, leaving room to step up later. We will check your supply and tell you honestly which option makes sense for your situation.
An EV charger is a continuous high-current load, so it is not a job for a standard power point. We install a dedicated circuit from your switchboard with correctly sized cable for the run, its own circuit breaker, and the right earth-fault protection. Chargers require dedicated RCD protection (Type A plus DC fault detection, or Type B, depending on the unit), which we fit as part of the install.
Before we start, we check that your switchboard and main supply can carry the extra load. Where the board is full or dated, we can upgrade it. For larger loads, or several chargers, we set up load management so the charger automatically eases back when the house or site is drawing heavily, keeping you within your supply and avoiding nuisance tripping.
Do it once, do it right. An EV charger draws its maximum current for hours at a time, which is exactly where undersized cable, a shared circuit or missing RCD protection becomes dangerous. In WA, this work must be carried out by a licensed electrical worker to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, including the EV-specific requirements. A compliant install protects your home, your car and your warranty.
Most modern wallboxes are smart chargers with app control, scheduling and load monitoring built in. If you have solar, we can set the charger up to soak up your excess generation, so you fill the car from your own panels during the day instead of exporting cheaply to the grid. You can also schedule charging to off-peak hours to make the most of a time-of-use tariff.
We configure the charger, connect it to your Wi-Fi, walk you through the app, and make sure scheduling and any solar or load-management features are working before we finish.
We install all the major brands and are happy to fit a unit you have already bought or supply one to suit. Common choices in Perth include Tesla Wall Connector, Zappi, Wallbox, Fronius Wattpilot, Ocular, BYD and other OCPP-compatible chargers. If you are not sure what to buy, tell us your car, your parking setup and whether you have solar, and we will point you to a charger that fits the job and the budget.
We also install EV charging for businesses, strata and commercial sites, from a single bay for the company car to multiple chargers for staff and customers. Commercial installs usually involve load management across several units, three-phase supply, cable management and, where needed, OCPP-networked chargers with access control and billing. We scope it with you, keep the switchboard and supply within limits, and deliver a tidy, compliant result.
Every property is different, so we quote on the job rather than a flat figure. The main factors are the distance from your switchboard to the charger, whether the cable runs through walls, roof space or along the wall, the state and spare capacity of your switchboard, whether you need single or three phase, and the charger itself. A short run next to the board costs far less than a long cable route to a detached garage.
We give you a clear, upfront quote before any work starts, so you know exactly what you are paying for. No vague hourly guesses and no surprises on the invoice.
