Commercial Electrician in Perth by Spark Tech Electrical

Spark Tech Electrical is a licensed electrical contractor (EC 17280) based in Padbury, providing commercial electrical work for businesses across Perth. We handle the electrical side of offices, retail stores, warehouses, cafes, medical suites, gyms and strata-managed buildings, from a single faulty circuit through to a full tenancy fit-out. If you own or manage a commercial property in the northern suburbs or greater metro, we are set up to keep your site safe, compliant and running.

Every job is carried out to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and tested before we hand it back. Because we are a smaller local outfit rather than a call-centre chain, the person who quotes your work is usually the person who does it, and we plan around your trading hours so the lights stay on when customers and staff are in the building.

Commercial Electrical Services We Provide

We cover the full range of work a commercial site needs across its lifecycle, whether you are fitting out a new lease, maintaining an existing premises or chasing down an intermittent fault.

  • Office, retail and warehouse fit-outs and tenancy refurbishments
  • Switchboard upgrades, sub-boards and distribution boards
  • Single-phase and three-phase power, including new circuits for machinery and equipment
  • LED lighting upgrades, high-bay lighting and lighting control
  • Emergency and exit lighting installation, testing and certification
  • Data and communications cabling, points and patching
  • Fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Test and tag of portable appliances and equipment

Fit-Outs and Tenancy Refurbishments

A new lease or a refurbishment is where electrical work has the biggest impact on how a space functions. We work from your floor plan or shopfitter's drawings to set out power, data and lighting where your business actually needs them, then run the rough-in, fit-off and final testing. Getting the layout right early avoids the expensive habit of cutting walls open again later for one missed outlet.

We coordinate with builders, shopfitters and other trades so the electrical stage slots into the program rather than holding it up. When a fit-out adds load that the existing supply cannot carry, we identify that at quoting stage rather than at handover.

Switchboard Upgrades and Power Distribution

Older commercial boards were often built for a fraction of the load a modern business runs. Adding computers, kitchen equipment, air conditioning or machinery to a tired board can mean nuisance tripping, overheating or a board that no longer meets current standards. We upgrade switchboards, install sub-boards and re-balance distribution so power is delivered safely across your site.

Where a job touches the network side, such as a supply upgrade, metering change or an increase in connected capacity, Western Power is the network operator for the Perth metro area and that work has to be arranged through their connection process. We manage the contractor side and tell you up front where a Western Power application is involved.

Emergency and Exit Lighting

Emergency and exit lighting is a legal requirement for most commercial buildings, and it has to actually work when the power fails. We install, repair and test emergency lighting systems and provide the records you need for your building compliance. Routine testing matters because a failed battery or a painted-over exit sign is only discovered during an audit or, worse, during an actual evacuation.

WA compliance note: Electrical installation work in Western Australia must be carried out by a licensed electrical worker under a licensed electrical contractor, to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules, and is regulated by Building and Energy (EnergySafety WA). New and altered circuits generally require RCD protection, with at least two RCDs covering power and lighting circuits. We test and document the work so you have a record if it is ever questioned.

Maintenance, Fault Finding and Test and Tag

Unplanned electrical faults cost more than the repair itself when they shut a business down mid-trade. We offer scheduled preventative maintenance to catch problems before they become outages, and reactive fault finding when something has already failed. Tripping circuits, flickering lighting, dead outlets and burning smells all get traced back to the cause rather than patched over.

We also provide test and tag for portable appliances, which keeps your workplace electrical safety obligations in order and is often required by insurers and for many commercial leases and sites.

Areas We Service

From our Padbury base we cover the Perth northern suburbs including Joondalup, Hillarys, Duncraig, Scarborough, Stirling and Wanneroo, and we travel across the greater metro for commercial work. Being local to the northern corridor means shorter response times for businesses in this part of Perth, which matters when a fault is keeping your doors shut.

Why Choose Spark Tech Electrical

You get a licensed EC contractor who quotes honestly, works to standard and explains what is happening in plain terms. We scope cost factors openly, the size and complexity of the job, switchboard condition, cable runs, access, after-hours requirements and whether any Western Power involvement is needed, so there are no surprises on the invoice. Call 0461 359 510 or email info@sparktechelectricalperth.com.au to talk through your commercial electrical needs.

Commercial Electrician Perth FAQs

Common questions Perth homeowners and businesses ask before booking. Still not sure? Just give us a call.

Yes. Spark Tech Electrical operates as a licensed electrical contractor in Western Australia under EC 17280. All work is carried out by licensed electrical workers to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and is subject to the regulations enforced by Building and Energy (EnergySafety WA). We can provide our licence details on request and document the work we complete for your records.
Yes. For many commercial sites we schedule work before opening, after close or on weekends so trading is not disrupted. After-hours and weekend work is one of the cost factors we discuss at quoting stage, since labour outside standard hours affects the price. Let us know your trading pattern and any blackout periods and we will plan the job around them.
You may, if your board trips often, runs hot, lacks adequate RCD protection or cannot support equipment you want to add. Older commercial boards were sized for far less load than modern offices, kitchens and machinery draw. We assess the existing board, your current and planned load, and tell you whether an upgrade, a sub-board or rebalancing is the right fix before any work starts.
Sometimes. Western Power is the network operator for the Perth metro area, so any work on the supply side, such as a capacity increase, new connection or metering change, goes through their connection process. Internal wiring, switchboards, lighting and power circuits inside your premises are contractor work we handle directly. We flag at quoting stage whether a Western Power application applies to your job.
For most commercial buildings, yes. Emergency and exit lighting must be installed and maintained so it operates during a power failure, and it requires routine testing with records kept. We install, repair and test these systems and provide documentation for your building compliance. Skipping testing is a common audit failure because batteries and fittings degrade quietly until they are actually needed.
We never quote a flat figure blind because the real drivers vary. The main cost factors are the size and complexity of the job, the condition of your switchboard, cable run lengths and access, whether the work is after hours, the materials specified, and whether any Western Power network application is required. We assess your site and give a clear quote so you know what you are paying for before we begin.
