Commercial Solar Flood Lights in Perth by Spark Tech Electrical

Spark Tech Electrical installs commercial solar powered flood lights for businesses, strata properties and facility managers across Perth. We are a licensed electrical contractor (EC 17280) based in Padbury, covering Joondalup, Hillarys, Duncraig, Scarborough, Stirling, Wanneroo and the wider metro. Whether you need to light a car park, a loading yard, signage, a building perimeter or a remote site with no easy power, we scope the right fixtures and install them to last.

Solar flood lights let you put bright, reliable light exactly where you need it without trenching back to the switchboard or running long cable feeds. That makes them a strong fit for large or hard-to-wire outdoor areas where a mains run would be slow and expensive to install.

Why commercial properties choose solar flood lights

Self-contained solar flood lights pair a high-output LED head with an integrated or panel-fed lithium battery and a daylight charging cycle. For commercial sites the appeal is simple: no metered power draw, no cable run across a yard or car park, and lighting that keeps working through a grid outage. Done properly they cut running costs and give you security and safety coverage in areas that were previously dark.

They suit car parks, warehouse and logistics yards, signage and entry statements, pathways, perimeters, sporting and community facilities, and rural or remote sites where a mains connection is not practical. We help you match lumen output, beam spread, battery autonomy and motion control to the actual task rather than over-spending on fixtures you do not need.

Where solar flood lighting works best

  • Commercial and strata car parks, including overflow and rear lots
  • Warehouse, transport and storage yards needing wide flood coverage
  • Building perimeters, fence lines and security zones
  • Illuminated signage, entries and architectural features
  • Pathways, walkways and shared common areas
  • Remote, rural or temporary sites with no nearby supply

For very large areas, or where you want centralised dusk-to-dawn control and dimming, we will tell you honestly whether a solar array, a hybrid mains-and-solar layout, or a conventional LED flood system gives you the better long-term result.

Our installation process

We start with a site assessment: we look at solar exposure and shading, mounting structures, the height and aiming you need, and how much of the night the lights must run. Panel orientation matters in Perth. A fixture shaded by a building, parapet or tree for half the day will not hold charge through winter, so we plan placement around real sun access, not just where the bracket is easy to fit.

From there we supply and mount the fixtures, set sensors and timers, aim the heads to minimise glare and light spill onto neighbours or roads, and commission the system so you can see it performing. Where a project mixes solar fittings with any mains-powered lighting, controls or sub-board work, that electrical work is carried out by our licensed electricians to the standards below.

Compliance and electrical safety in WA

Stand-alone solar flood lights are largely self-contained, but the moment a job touches fixed wiring, a switchboard, controls or any mains-side connection, it becomes licensed electrical work in Western Australia. We carry it out to the AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and the requirements enforced by EnergySafety WA (Building and Energy).

Where a project adds or alters mains lighting and power circuits, WA rules require those final subcircuits to be RCD protected, with at least two RCDs covering the socket-outlet and lighting circuits at a property. If your works are tied to a sale or new lease of the premises, hardwired interconnected smoke alarms and RCD protection must also be in place. Any network-side work that affects your supply or metering is coordinated with Western Power as the local network operator.

Compliance note: Solar floodlight projects that connect to or modify your mains supply, switchboard or metering must be done by a licensed electrical contractor and may require coordination with Western Power. We handle the certification so your installation is documented and compliant.

What affects the cost

We never quote a flat number sight unseen, because the right system depends on your site. The main cost drivers are the number and lumen output of fixtures, mounting height and access (poles, walls, EWP or scaffold for high mounts), battery capacity and the autonomy you need through cloudy weeks, sensor and control options, and whether any trenching, mounting structures or mains and switchboard work are involved.

A simple two-fixture perimeter on existing poles is a very different job to lighting a full car park to a target lux level. We assess the site, recommend fixtures sized to the task, and give you a clear, itemised quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Maintenance and reliability

Solar flood lights are low maintenance but not no maintenance. The single biggest factor in long-term brightness is keeping the panels clean, since dust, salt near the coast, pollen and bird mess all cut charging efficiency. Batteries also have a service life and will eventually need replacement to keep full-night runtime. We can build periodic panel cleaning, battery checks and fixture servicing into an ongoing arrangement so your lighting stays reliable year-round.

Commercial Solar Flood Lights Perth FAQs

Common questions Perth homeowners and businesses ask before booking. Still not sure? Just give us a call.

A fully self-contained solar fixture mounted on a pole or wall can sometimes be fitted as a stand-alone unit. But the moment the work connects to your switchboard, mains wiring, controls or metering, it becomes licensed electrical work in Western Australia. We carry out that work as a licensed contractor (EC 17280) to AS/NZS 3000, so the installation is compliant and certified.
They can, if they are sized and placed correctly. Perth gets strong sun, but shorter winter days and shading from buildings or trees reduce charging. We assess real solar exposure on your site and specify panel size, battery capacity and autonomy so the lights hold runtime through cloudy stretches rather than fading out before dawn.
Yes. Commercial-grade solar flood lights produce high lumen output suited to car parks, yards and security zones. The key is matching fixture count, beam spread and aiming to your target lighting level. For very large or precise lux requirements we will advise whether all-solar, hybrid or mains LED gives the best result.
It depends on the site. Main cost drivers are the number and output of fixtures, mounting height and access, battery autonomy, sensors and controls, and any mounting structures or mains and switchboard work. We assess your property and provide an itemised quote rather than a flat figure, so you only pay for what the job actually needs.
Yes, that is one of their strongest advantages. Because each fixture runs on its own solar panel and battery, it is independent of the grid and keeps working during a Western Power outage. That makes solar flood lighting a reliable choice for security, perimeters and safety-critical outdoor areas that must stay lit even when mains power drops.
They are low maintenance but not maintenance free. Panels should be cleaned periodically because dust, pollen and coastal salt cut charging efficiency. Batteries have a service life and will eventually need replacing to keep full-night runtime. We can set up scheduled panel cleaning, battery checks and fixture servicing so your lighting stays reliable across the northern suburbs and metro.
